Southern California Organization Provides Art Education To Underprivileged Kids
Oscar Magallanes nurtured his artistic ability while a student at Ryman Arts, a Southern California arts education center for high school students. “No words can express the amount of gratitude I have towards Ryman Arts,” says the alumnus, now a professional artist, curator for Galeria Rustica in Pomona, owner of his own design firm, the chair of the Ryman Arts Alumni Association, and member of the Ryman Arts Board of Directors. “I have been able to take on these roles because of the guidance and confidence that Ryman Arts instilled in me at such an important time in my life.”

Steven Ehrlich’s new Walter Cronkite School of Journalism in downtown Phoenix seems to send architecture over the airwaves: Vertical stripes painted on the building’s metal façade symbolize the bandwidths of the U.S. radio frequency. “The activity and energy inside the building is broadcast to the community and beyond,” says Ehrlich, who served as design architect in collaboration with AE Architects of Phoenix.
